Using 3rd party themes in Windows XP SP3
Problem:
- After upgrading to Windows XP SP3, I realized I can’t use 3rd Party theme any more. I used style xp to enable 3rd party themes and visual styles.
- This solution can be used also for using third-party themes in Windows Family.
Solution:
- Visit www.withinwindows.com and download unlocked “uxtheme.dll” for your Windows.
- Visit Replacer’s website and download replacer. It will be used to change your “uxtheme.dll”
- Run replacer. (It’s a batch file)
- Open a folder with given path: “Windows Path\System32\” and find “uxtheme.dll”. Drag it and drop into replacer’s console.
- Same as above, drag and drop new(cracked) “uxtheme.dll” into replacer.
- for Now, replacer will confirms again, you just proceed it.
- It may needs restart your OS to apply changing. I recommend reboot immediately.
Informations:
- By default, MS disallows third party themes. So we have to use commercial softwares for using themes which are even under GNU. (likes plastikXP) So some nice guy cracked it. That’s why you need to download “uxtheme.dll”.
- “uxtheme.dll” is exist under “Windows Path\System32\”. And it is treated as protected OS member file. So we can’t replace it by ordinary method. You can replace this file in Safe Mode. But, It is too annoying. So you need replacer.
