How to play ogg in WMP
Thursday, March 1st, 2007Windows Media Player does not support ogg type medias. So you need some steps to play. (I know, this is silly, but this solution only works for windows platform.)
Steps
- Install Ogg Codec. (RadLight Ogg filter)
- Update Windows Registry (ogg registry for windows)
- (optional) Install Media Library Plugin for tag support. (SoftPointer’s plugin)
More Informations
- If you don’t want to use Advanced Tag Support for ogg type, skip step 3.
- This solution is tested at Windows XP sp2, WMP 11.0
- During playing a ogg file, seeking slider doesn’t represented correctly.
- You can’t use Advanced Tag Editor, but you can edit and give a rating by Media Library UI. (step 3 is required.)
